The You Matter Project (Bronze Award)

Image
My Bronze Award project for Girl Scouts is helping LGBTQ+ kids in foster care. It is called the You Matter Project. This is because it is helping LGBTQ+ kids to know that they matter. A surprisingly large number of LGBTQ+ are homeless or in foster care because they are not wanted with their blood families. This is very sad because no one should be excluded from their family just because they are different. The You Matter project plans to work with two organizations, Carrying Hope and Montrose Grace Place. Both organizations work on helping foster kids in different ways. Montrose Grace Place helps foster kids in their late teens while Carrying Hope helps kids from infant to early teens. I am working with two girls in my girl scout troop. As we progress into our project we hope to help kids in foster care in the LGBTQ+ area. As the project continues I will post more about it. Remember, all people have a place in this world.

Vote!

Image
It is Election Day and I hope that you will vote! Tomorrow we might be figuring out who is the new president.  It's important to vote because the government will know what's important to you.  I decide who to vote for depending on how how kind they are and how they will represent our community. We should be kind to everyone no matter what their race or gender. That's the most important way to choose the correct candidate to vote for. Use your family's values to decide.  I think that kids care about this election because we have to spend four years with this president even though we can't vote. We can still make a change in our community by encouraging others to vote. Even if you might think its too late, as long as you send your vote in by Election Day your vote will still count!  Please vote! Your opinions matter!                                     ...

Girl Scouts!

Image
Girl Scouts is important to me because I get to see my friends. I really need that because if I don't I will feel lonely during the pandemic.  Girl Scouts gives me confidence by helping me learn to be a leader, take care of other people, and share my ideas. I love that my Girl Scout troop includes everyone.  In Girl Scouts we get to earn badges like First Aid, Game Maker, or Detective. To earn the Detective badge we did a digital escape room on zoom, it was really fun! For the Jewelry badge we got to make necklaces and bracelets via zoom. We learned about the history of  and how to Native Americans use jewelry to tell stories and symbolize things.  I hope that people support Girl Scouts so that my troop and other troops can keep doing fun things. You can buy Fall Product to support us. If you live near me, I can deliver your products to your porch or you can have them mailed to you. You can order nuts here or magazines here , using code  YT82MVUC . My f...
